How the calculation works

Enter the required parameters and submit the form. The calculator validates the values, performs the calculation on the server and returns a detailed result.

The calculation is processed for the current HTTP request and does not require registration.

EV charging time estimate

Battery energy added = battery capacity × SOC change. Grid energy accounts for efficiency losses, and charging time is estimated from required grid energy and effective charging power, including the configured taper.

Example

Fast charging often slows at high SOC, so the taper inputs allow a more realistic estimate than simply dividing energy by charger rating.

Questions and answers

Why can real charging time be longer?

Power can be limited by both the vehicle and charger and changes with SOC, battery temperature and charger conditions.

What does SOC mean?

State of Charge: the battery’s current charge level expressed as a percentage.
